- 1 ¾ oz. Hendrick's gin or other less juniper forward gin
- 1 oz. fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
- 1 oz. Elderflower liqueur
- 1 slice grapefruit optional
- 2 sprigs rosemary optional
Combine the gin, grapefruit juice and elderflower liqueur in a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake for 10 to 15 seconds.
Strain over ice into a rocks glass and garnish with a grapefruit slice and rosemary sprigs if desired.
Gin: for this cocktail, I recommend Hendrick's. Unlike London Dry gins, it doesn't have a strong juniper flavor and the floral, cucumber flavors really compliment the grapefruit.
Elderflower Liqueur: St. Germain is the most popular brand, but other brands work as well. If you don't have Elderflower liqueur, you can substitute simple syrup. Ikea carries an elderflower syrup which is another great substitute.
Grapefruit Juice: Bottled grapefruit juice, although convenient, doesn't have the same flavor as freshly squeezed. With so few ingredients, freshly squeezed juice tastes so much better so that is what I recommend!
