TGIF…. I think it’s fair to say it’s been a rough week. The tragedy that struck Dallas, the city my children call home, has weighed heavily on my heart – as it has everyone’s. As I was typing this post, news of the horrors in Nice came across my screen – and like all of you, I simply have no words. So it seems rather trivial to be talking about food and drinks with all that is going on – but I have always believed that food has the power to bring people together. It feeds us, both in body and soul – it is inspiration behind this blog and the reason I named it A Communal Table. So, with that in mind, I decided to go ahead and post. I’ve been wanting to share this Ruby Red Moscow Mule with ‘y’all” and, given that vodka is made in Austin, Texas, it seemed appropriate.
A few weeks ago, we were visiting friends for the weekend. The night we arrived we had a potluck and one of the couple’s brought drinks – these Ruby Red Moscow Mules, made with Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka! Now, “y’all” know I’m not big on super fruity, sweet drinks. So, when another friend suggested I try this vodka a few months ago I was skeptical. Because you know, vodka isn’t really my thing.
And flavored vodkas? Now that’s really pushing it! But, I went ahead and picked up a bottle and tried it – and was surprised.
It was actually rather tasty – and I thought it would great in a summer cocktail -or cocktails as it were because I have another one that I’ll be posting soon – so you might want to pick up a bottle of this Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka – you know, to be prepared and all.
With just the right balance of sweet, tart and spicy this Ruby Red Moscow Mule is wonderfully refreshing. Just the thing for sipping on the porch or for a gathering of friends.
So this weekend, get together with your friends, your family, your neighbors. Pour yourself one of these Ruby Red Moscow Mules and sit a spell.
I think we all could use it.
